The Idea

The NoE v2 Gym League was set up for all you PokéFreaks who can't wait to battle over wifi. Basically, we have a gym leader for every type. Normal forum members can challenge them and recieve small badge icons to put in sigs or trainer cards. They can also receive prizes such as items and even Pokémon. Battles will take place over wifi on Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on DS or Pokémon Battle Revolution on Wii where available.

The League will begin a while after the release of Diamond and Pearl in Europe.

You can see what's happening in the League here.

The Rules

There are several rules that apply to both challengers and Gym Leaders. They are as follows:

Match results are to be PMed to eamonn by both the challenger and the Leader, whatever the outcome.

The Gym Leader decides the conditions of the battle (e.g. whether it will be 3v3, a double battle etc).

You may only challenge the same Gym Leader once a week.

You may only battle the same Leader for Leadership position once a fortnight (see Ascendancy section).

You can only receive a Gym Leader's prize once.

Breachment of the following rules will result in a fortnight's disqualification from the League, and consecutive breachments will result in greater penalties. If you find someone breaking one of these rules, disconnect and report it to eamonn on the forums, except in the hacking case.

Disconnecting
is forbidden unless the opponent is breaking one of the following rules, excluding the hacking rule.

Hax items (items such as Lax Incense or King's Rock) are banned. This is because such items depend on luck rather than skill.

One-hit KO moves are forbidden, for the same reason as above.

Stalling (purposefully taking a long time to make a move in order to annoy your opponent, not the Pokémon role) is forbidden.

The use of an Action Replay, GameShark or any other cheating device in the capturing, levelling up, training, battling or creation of a Pokémon is prohibited and will result in an automatic disqualification. If you are battling a challenger or Gym Leader and believe that they are using hacked Pokémon or hacking devices, do not disconnect but play out the remainder of the battle and then report your suspicions to eamonn. He will investigate.

Ubers are not allowed. All Pokémon in the following image are ubers. Note that Deoxys is banned in all forms.

Please note that Gym Leaders may have some of their own Leader-specific rules.

Prizes

If you defeat a Gym Leader you will be rewarded with their badge (see Badges section) and a special prize. These prizes can range from items such as TMs to eggs and Pokémon. In most cases the Pokémon or eggs will have been bred from the Leader's team, and the TM will be a move of their type.

If you defeat every Gym Leader in the League, you will receive a special prize.

Ascendancy, How to Rise up the Ranks

All challengers have to first go through eamonn. This will help reduce the amount and frequency of... ascendancies. You don't have to battle him, you just have to ask for permission (PM him).

If you want to replace a Gym Leader, you must defeat the Gym Leader in a special challenge with a mono team of the same type as the Gym in question.

Badges

If you defeat a Gym Leader in battle, you will receive their badge. The badges will, obviously, representtheir type. You can put badge in your forum signature or trainer card (see below).

Trainer cards!

As most of you know you can make trainer cards to display your team and badges earned:

However, standard trainer cards have only 8 badge slots (although that one has an extra 8).

Because of this, eamonn has made a badge template with 18 slots; 17 for Gym Badges and one for the League Badge:

Simply add this to your trainer card using Paint etc. or ask someone else to do it (say please).

You can find a tutorial on how to make your trainer card here.

Remember, you don't have to make a trainer card. You could simply place the badges in your sig, or make a link to your trainer card, as we have sig restraints here.

If you're a Gym Leader, you can do likewise, but remember that challengers will know what Pokémon are in your team.
